Summerfest grants free senior citizen admission today

Organizations:

Summerfest will celebrate SeniorFest Day today with free admission for all festival visitors ages 60 and older between noon and 4 p.m., thanks to support from Milwaukee-based Direct Supply.

Each senior patron will also receive a voucher for $2 off $10 food and non-alcoholic beverage purchases.

Additionally, caregivers at area nursing homes, assisted living facilities and senior citizen organizations will be granted free Summerfest tickets so they can help senior visitors at the event.

Along with Summerfest’s scheduled lineup of shows, senior patrons can enjoy big band music, performances by winners of the Milwaukee County Department on Aging Golden Idol Competition, and exhibit booths presented by agencies specializing in senior services. Onsite Direct Supply volunteers dressed in blue shirts will be available to assist senior citizens during their Summerfest experience.

Direct Supply and Summerfest are collaborating with media partner MeTV and the Milwaukee County Department on Aging to make SeniorFest Day possible.

“This event is just one way we’re working every day to enhance the lives of America’s seniors,” said Bob Klein, chief administrative officer of Direct Supply. “It’s great to partner with Summerfest, MeTV and the Milwaukee County Department on Aging again. If the event is anything like last year, Milwaukee-area seniors can expect an incredibly fun day in the sun.”

Summerfest runs through Sunday, July 6, at Henry Maier Festival Park along Milwaukee’s lakefront.
