Stefans Soccer planning new Brookfield superstore and headquarters

Company bought former Fun World building

Stefans Soccer has acquired the former Fun World building in the town of Brookfield, where it plans to convert the 25,000-square-foot facility into a new flagship store, company headquarters and warehouse space.

The building, located at 620 Elizabeth Court, was purchased earlier this week from an affiliate of Pella Windows & Doors of Wisconsin for about $2.1 million, according to state records.

The property has an assessed value of $1.7 million, according to Waukesha County records.

Plans for the facility include a new 6,000-square-foot flagship retail space and new company headquarters. The building will allow Stefans Soccer to have its new store, corporate offices, team uniform outfitting and production, and warehouse spaces all under one roof.

Stefans Soccer currently leases 3,200 square feet in the Best Buy plaza at 19555 W Bluemound Road, as well as a 10,500-square-foot complex for its corporate operations and warehouse space at 2247 and 2075 S. 170th St., New Berlin. Having everything in the same location will increase productivity and logistics efficiency, the company said.

The current Brookfield location will close down and move into the new space by the end of May. The new store, meanwhile, will offer an expanded “boot room” for players to try on shoes, a customization “bar” where customers can personalize apparel, and a community room that local soccer teams and clubs can use for meetings and small events at no cost.

About 30 employees will work out of the facility, with that number increasing to 50 or more during peak uniform-production season in the summer months. Stefans Soccer said it currently employs anywhere between 45 and 70 people across its three store locations and corporate offices.

Fun World, an entertainment center, opened in the mid-1990s and closed in 2010. Fun World was an indoor complex that featured dozens of games, laser tag, miniature golf and a Ferris wheel.

Pella Windows & Doors originally bought the property in 2016 and had plans to create a new showroom there.

Stefans Soccer is a family owned business that has been in operation since 1965. In addition to Brookfield, it has stores in Milwaukee and Madison.
