Brookfield-based public accounting firm Sitzberger, Hau & Co. has acquired Gillis & Co. LLC, a single practitioner accounting firm in Brookfield.
The transaction was effective Jan. 24, and brought total employment at Sitzberger Hau to 57, with 19 certified public accountants. The company has locations in Brookfield, Milwaukee and Lake Geneva.
The Gillis & Co. office was closed and the business was merged into Sitzberger’s Brookfield office.
“The expansion of the practice significantly increases our knowledge base and service for current and future clients, charting their financial course through challenging economic times,” said president Fred Sitzberger, CPA, CVA.
Sitzberger Hau was formed in 2014 when Sitzberger Widmann & Co. S.C. merged with Hau & Associates. The company continues to talk to practitioners and make acquisitions to drive its growth, said Annette Brookins, office manager.
“That’s just our plan on how to grow,” Brookins said. “We’re constantly talking to other practitioners and when they’re ready to not necessarily be done, but maybe just have less responsibility, then we’re looking to acquire them.”
