The Sears store and Sears Auto Center at Memorial Mall in Sheboygan will close in February, a spokesman for the company said. The store has 31 employees.
A liquidation sale will begin on Dec. 5.
The Sears store property at Memorial Mall in Sheboygan was recently sold by Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Sears, Roebuck and Co. to an affiliate of New York-based NorthStar Realty Finance for $2.3 million, according to state records.
Sears also announced recently that in December it plans to close the Sears store at Bayshore Town Center in Gendale. Early this year the company closed the Sears store at Regency Mall in Racine.
These are just some of several stores that Sears is closing as the company tries to turn around years of struggle. The company reported a net loss of $573 million in the second quarter.
“Store closures are part of a series of actions we’re taking to reduce on-going expenses, adjust our asset base, and accelerate the transformation of our business model,” said Sears Holdings spokesman Chris Brathwaite. “These actions will better enable us to focus our investments on serving our customers and members through integrated retail – at the store, online and in the home. Our investments in Shop Your Way and Integrated Retail enable us to migrate the shopping activity of highly engaged members who previously shopped these closed stores to alternative channels. As a result, we hope to retain a portion of the sales previously associated with these stores by nurturing and maintaining our relationships with the members that shopped these locations.”
