Construction will start early next year on a project that will expand and enhance the Sendik’s grocery store at The Corners of Brookfield shopping center in the Town of Brookfield.
The Milwaukee-based grocer plans to merge the storefront with The Corners main level with a 7,000-square-foot addition, which will include adding a mezzanine level lounge and dining and bar offerings.
The project aims at transforming the store into an “experiential destination,” according to an announcement on The Corners’ website.
The store currently sits at the mall’s lower level with two lower level entrances– one along Bluemound Road and the other in its underground parking garage.
The expanded store, which will avail a Union Street entrance, will feature a luxury cook shop, floral and home goods department and expanded grab-and-go selections. Its lounge area on the mezzanine level, overlooking a new ground-floor food hall, will include sofas, tables, gas fireplace and piano.
Fresh meats and fish cooked to order will be available at a new grill station, and a new bar area, serving beer, wine and coffee, will offer additional seating for in-store dining.
The Sendik’s store at The Corners of Brookfield will remain open during construction, which is slated to begin January and be complete by summer 2019.
