Roundy’s donates 14,000 pounds of food

Roundy’s Foundation will donate more than 14,000 pounds of food and cash to area food pantries on Monday, April 7.

The gift is part of a $250,000 food and cash donation to 60 food pantries in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Chicago on the foundation’s Focused on Feeding Families Tour. Each pantry will get about $4,000 in food and cash.

Local donations will be staged at the Pick ‘n Save at 6950 W. State St. in Wauwatosa, then distributed to the following pantries: Sherman Park Community Ministries Food Pantry, First Lutheran Church Food Pantry, Tosa Community Food Pantry, Northwest Baptist Church Emergency Food Pantry, Greater Philadelphia Church of God in Christ and Cross Lutheran Church.

According to Roundy’s, one in 11 Wisconsin families have a hard time putting food on the table, and 37 percent of families using Wisconsin food pantries have at least one employed parent.
