You can’t talk about passion for Milwaukee without mentioning Rick Barrett, founder and president of Barrett Lo Visionary Development. Barrett is a major player in the Milwaukee real estate community. His projects include some of the most significant developments in Milwaukee and southeast Wisconsin.

Barrett and his team at Barrett Lo Visionary Development are responsible for the completion of several mixed-use urban developments, including The Moderne, a 30-story apartment and condo building on Milwaukee’s west side. The building has boosted downtown west of the Milwaukee River, and has attracted new residents and new business ventures to the area.

The success of The Moderne is a testament to Barrett’s visionary leadership. All 203 apartments are leased and only three of the building’s condo units remain on the market.

Barrett is also the visionary behind The Couture, a 44-story apartment tower proposed for Milwaukee’s lakefront, and luxury apartments planned in the Drexel Town Square development in Oak Creek.

“Rick does not settle for the ordinary. His projects have injected modern design and comfort into the Milwaukee downtown area, attracting new residents and creating opportunity for other business ventures to come in,” said Carl Mueller, president of Milwaukee public relations firm Mueller Communications. Mueller nominated Barrett for the I.Q. award.

Barrett’s ideas and completed developments are forcing civic and business leaders to look at the region in a different way, Mueller said.

“His entrepreneurial abilities are not only reflected in the success of his business, but in its impact on how Milwaukee as a community views itself as a place to live and do business,” Mueller said.
