RGA goes after Barrett in TV ad

The Republican Governors Association is targeting Dem guv hopeful Tom Barrett in a new TV ad that says the Milwaukee mayor is like Gov. Jim Doyle, “only worse.”‘
The spot opens with a narrator saying, “He’s raised taxes every year he’s been in office,” increased spending 28 percent and lost thousands of jobs on his watch.
“Think we’re talking about Governor Jim Doyle? We’re not,” the narrator says. “We’re talking about Mayor Tom Barrett.”
Dems are crying foul, though, because the RGA has an ad in Colorado that attacks the Dem candidate for governor there because, under Barrett’s watch, Milwaukee landed 200 jobs that had been in Denver after Republic Airways moved its headquarters to Wisconsin.
An RGA spokesman laughed off the suggestion the Colorado spot means Barrett deserves some credit for landing those jobs.
