Milwaukee-based Eppstein Uhen Architects was recently ranked as the 29th best architectural firm to work for in the U.S. by Natick, Mass.-based ZweigWhite & Assoc., a consulting firm for architecture, engineering and consulting firms.

Milwaukee-based general contractor CG Schmidt, recently announced that Incentive Gallery, a Milwaukee-based promotional marketing firm, is the winner of CG Schmidt’s Ovation Award for Corporate Support.

Incentive Gallery and its owner, Linda McCabe, were nominated by Sojourner Truth House for donating time, money and talent. Incentive Gallery offers Sojourner Truth House company resources including corporate contacts and staff to recruit donors and organize fundraisers. Sojourner Truth House operates Milwaukee’s largest shelter for abused women and children. It provides shelter, safety, support, education and advocacy services for thousands of Milwaukee families.

An honorable mention was awarded to Milwaukee-based Schiebel Halaska, a strategic marketing communications agency. Schiebel Halaska and its principal owner, Mary Schiebel were nominated by Centro Legal for their donation of pro-bono marketing assistance. Centro Legal is a Milwaukee-based, non-profit organization that provides affordable legal services for low-income clients.

The Ovation Award for Corporate Support is designed to inspire giving in the small to medium-sized business community by honoring smaller, lesser-known companies and their employees. It recognizes companies that have created long-term partnerships with non-profit organizations through financial or in-kind support, board involvement and the encouragement of employee volunteerism. The awards were presented at the Donor’s Forum of Wisconsin’s Ninth Annual Statewide Conference on Philanthropy on September 17, 2008.

CG Schmidt will offer the Ovation Award for Volunteerism – Statewide next April.  Nomination forms will be available at wwww.cgschmidt.com. CG Schmidt is also honoring the Capital Region Ovation Award for Corporate Support recipient on October 2 at Forward Community Investments’ Investor Breakfast at Nakoma Golf Club in Madison.

The City of Milwaukee has added 86 new vacant lots to its inventory of available land. The city is now accepting offers on over 540 City-owned vacant lots for you to build your new single-family or duplex home.
