Potawatomi planning $1.3 million renovation to Dream Dance

Work on steakhouse to begin later this year

Potawatomi Hotel & Casino is planning to $1.3 million in renovations to its Dream Dance Steak restaurant.

The renovations would take place over 5,085 total square feet, according to an application filed recently with the city of Milwaukee. Ryan Amundson, a spokesman with Potawatomi, confirmed the renovation plans but declined to provide additional information.

“I can confirm Potawatomi Hotel & Casino will be renovating Dream Dance Steak later this year,” Amundson wrote in an email to BizTimes. “Beyond that, we’re not releasing further details.”

The current Dream Dance restaurant was opened as part of the casino’s expansion in 2008. The restaurant made its debut in a much smaller space off of the casino’s current bingo hall in 2000.

The renovation work would not be the only recent change for the upscale casino restaurant. Last year, Potawatomi named Mark Shoup as the new chef of Dream Dance. At the time, Shoup said the restaurant will keep its signature steakhouse feel, but he planned to make some subtle changes to the menu.

The restaurant renovations also come at a time when the hotel and casino, located at 1721 W. Canal St., is being expanded through the construction of a second hotel tower. The $80 million, 19-story addition will add 119 rooms to the 381-room hotel and expand the property by 180,000 square feet. The hotel expansion is expected to open to guests in July.
