Milwaukee-based Core Creative Inc. has hired Phillip Fischer as a production artist and designer. The firm has also promoted Julie Mertz-Dillon to senior art director. Mertz-Dillion has been with Core Creative for seven years.

Milwaukee-based Marshall & Ilsley Corp. has promoted Linda Crass, Mark Kochanski, Alicia Kopp and Tonya Towne to vice president positions. M&I has also promoted Caroline Shau to senior vice president. M&I Support Services Co., a division of M&I Bank, has promoted Guy Caves to vice president. M&I Wealth Management has promoted Patti Francis to vice president.

Building & Construction

MSI General Corp., Oconomowoc, has hired Kevin Cutts as an assistant project superintendent.

Child Care Services

Samantha Stern, the training and development director for Ebenezer Child Care Centers, has been named a validator for the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Program. Stern will conduct observations at programs throughout the United States, and will report her findings to the commissioners, who will then decide whether or not to grant a center its accreditation.

Education

Julie Quinlan Brame has been appointed vice president for college advancement at Alverno College in Milwaukee. She has 10 years of fundraising experience, and previously served as vice president of development for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

Engineering

Reserve Advisors, Milwaukee, has hired Matthew Beilman as a civil engineer. He previously worked for PB Design Build.

Health Care

Dr. Usman Afzal has been appointed assistant professor of medicine at The Medical College of Wisconsin and to the medical staff at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

Dawn Bragg, Ph.D., has also been appointed associate dean for student affairs and diversity at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Hospitality & Entertainment

Hotel Metro in Milwaukee has hired John Chitko as its executive chef. Chitko, formerly co-owner and chef at Yaffa Restaurant and Lounge will replace Jerry Garcia, who announced his departure earlier this year.

Human Resources

Gary Peavler has joined Mequon-based Waterstone HR as its newest relationship manager. Peavler previously worked in the business banking industry, and has experience with human resources consulting.

Insurance

Milwaukee-based Assurant Health has promoted Mike Norderhaug to senior vice president and executive sales officer. Norderhaug has worked for Assurant for more than 15 years. Scott Krienke has also been promoted to senior vice president of product and marketing. Krienke joined the company in 1984.

Brookfield-based Diversified Insurance Services appointed Kelly Drescher as risk consultant and a member of the company’s property and casualty team.

Interior Design

Leah Knox, studio lead and senior interior designer at Milwaukee-based Creative Business Interiors Inc., has passed the LEED Green Associate exam administered by the Green Building Certification Institute.

Legal Services

Milwaukee-based Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan LLP recently promoted Marcella Spoto to partner. Neil Calvin and Albert Michalik were also named partners in the firm. Both Calvin and Michalik are registered patent attorneys. Calvin was previously associate general counsel and director of patent licensing at Microsoft Corp.

Rachel Rose has been named 88Nine RadioMilwaukee’s music director and afternoon drive-time host. Rose previously worked as an announcer and music assistant since September 2007 at Boston-based non-commercial WERS.

Printing

Steve Kohlmann of Heritage Printing in Brookfield has been elected president of the Independent Business Association of Wisconsin. IBAW acts as a liaison between business owners and elected officials in Madison and Washington D.C. on legislative and regulation issues critical to small business.

Professional Organizations

Steven Chard, president of New Berlin-based SnapSports of Wisconsin, has been appointed to the executive board of The Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. Chard will lead Corporate Fund Raising for the organization.

Staffing & Recruiting

Brookfield-based Pinstripe Inc. has named Michelle Krier director of marketing and social media. Krier was formerly Pinstripe’s marketing manager. Angela Hills has also joined the firm as executive vice president and leader of commercial business.

Transportation

Milwaukee-based Lake Express LLC, has named Christopher Coleman vice president of operations. Coleman joined Lake Express in 2006, and is a retired Coast Guard officer with 25 years of service.
