As athletic director at Alverno College in Milwaukee, Katari Key is a staunch advocate for women in sports, according to colleague Heidi Anderson-Isaacson, Alverno’s dean of student development and success.
“She fearlessly leads a team of coaches and administrators dedicated to advancing equity in higher education through athletics. Katari boldly shows up for Alverno’s student athletes every day by supporting them on the field and in their academics,” Anderson-Isaacson said.
Since joining Alverno in 2020, Key has worked to diversify the staff within the athletics program and support the institution’s efforts to embrace diversity, equity and inclusion. She mentors and provides opportunities for current students who are considering professional careers in sports.
Key is an active member of We Black We Golf, an organization that uses the game of golf to build community in the city of Milwaukee. She is also active in Social X MKE, another organization that creates a connective platform for diverse professionals to thrive in the Milwaukee area. In addition, she hosted 200 students on Alverno’s campus to celebrate and be recognized on National Girls & Women in Sports Day.
