For nearly four decades, Marcia Spector has served as the executive director of Seeds of Health Inc., a Milwaukee-based nonprofit organization serving at-risk youth.
Spector grew the nonprofit from what was a $250,000 Women, Infants and Children federal assistance program to a $19 million organization that operates a network of five K-12 schools and a WIC clinic.
Today, Seeds of Health serves more than 1,300 Milwaukee students annually at Grandview High School, Seeds of Health Elementary School (established in 1996), Veritas High School (established in 2001), Tenor High School Cathedral Square Campus (established in 2005), and Tenor High School Journal Square Campus (established in 2021).
“Spector developed, funded and established these schools, each with its own mission and educational approach, in response to student needs and changing economic and social realities,” said board member Tiffany May of Berghammer Construction Corp. “Focused on building career pathways for Seeds of Health students – the vast majority of whom are economically disadvantaged – Spector was the driving force behind many innovative programs designed to prepare young people for the workforce.”
