Greg Stromberg, founder and chief executive officer of Sussex-based CannedWater4kids, has made outstanding contributions to both the packaging industry and philanthropic efforts, according to colleagues.
“With a remarkable 53-year career, he showcased a unique blend of entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative leadership,” said Peter Gorman, owner of Brand Support 365.
Founded in 2008, CannedWater4kids uses the proceeds from its canned drinking water to raise funds for water projects in disadvantaged communities worldwide, including in Guatemala, Zambia, Kenya and Tanzania. Under Stromberg’s guidance, the nonprofit has impacted more than 950,000 children globally by providing safe drinking water and delivering emergency relief through millions of cans.
In addition, Stromberg transformed the previously shut down Acme Printing Ink Co., which was eventually purchased by INX International Ink Co. and became the company’s most profitable branch within the first two years.
“His collaborative style is evident in his commitment to environmental sustainability, keeping over 5 million plastic water bottles out of rivers and landfills through CannedWater4kids initiatives,” said Gorman.
