Gary Jorgensen is the last living founder of Pewaukee-based VJS Construction Services, with a career spanning nearly 50 years in the construction industry.
When Jorgensen joined the firm in 1976, it had two owners and seven office employees. Before passing leadership to his sons, Craig and David Jorgensen, in 1999, Gary Jorgensen helped guide the firm’s growth to a $60 million annual volume, employing 150 individuals at its peak.

Gary Jorgensen’s leadership has extended beyond VJS through various roles in industry organizations, including president of the Associated General Contractors of Greater Milwaukee.
He has also supported several nonprofits, including the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, Journey House, Neighborhood House, Greater Milwaukee Foundation, and Mount Mary University. Jorgensen served on the board of Rogers Behavioral Health for 20 years.
