Darnell Hamilton is the executive director of Milwaukee-based Future Urban Leaders, an organization serving grades K4 through 12, helping Milwaukee youth discover their potential through leadership development, self-identity exploration, mindfulness education, social and community advocacy and holistic support towards post-secondary plans.
“Hamilton worked in Chicago’s nonprofit sector for six years, hoping to realign his passions with a purpose in life: serving his community. It led to him becoming a dedicated educator, impacting the lives of youth and their families for almost 20 years,” said Chronda Higgins, owner of Forever Changed Consulting Agency.
For 10 years, Hamilton served Milwaukee Public Schools as a high school special education teacher and a district coach for new teachers. He was featured in a WhyTheyTeach.org campaign and was also a video interviewee and writer for PBS Wisconsin Education’s AKA Teacher online platform.
“In his role at FUL, (Hamilton) has supported the leadership development of hundreds of students, created new programming, realigned previous programming, engaged with new donors and supporters, and helped to guide students on their post-secondary journey,” Higgins said.
