Adrian Spencer is deputy director of Rooted & Rising Washington Park. Spencer was previously the organization’s director of neighborhood engagement, working to further Rooted & Rising’s mission to partner with the residents of Milwaukee’s Washington Park neighborhood to build a stable, equitable and prosperous community through engaging with residents and community leaders, according to Chronda Higgins, director of client services at Athena Communications.
“Alongside the Rooted & Rising team and Washington Park community members, Spencer is currently working to create a quality of life plan for the neighborhood,” Higgins said. “Her work in public safety spans into her role with the Light It Up Harambee project, where she and her team measured the impact of porchlights on neighborhood crime since the project’s genesis in 2018. The goal is to implement collaborative solutions to crime.”
Prior to Rooted & Rising, Spencer served in multiple leadership roles at Milwaukee nonprofit Safe & Sound Inc. from 2014 to 2022.
“It was there that Spencer focused on uniting stakeholders to advance community-led solutions within the Washington Park neighborhood,” Higgins said.
