  • Maria Borda Weisner, coordinator of Human Formation and Hispanic Outreach at Cardinal Stritch University, and Joe Villmow, property manager, Gabaldon Properties have joined the UMOS Board of Directors.
  • Beth Dolan has been promoted to director of development for Children’s Hospital and Health System Foundation, in Wauwatosa. Dolan will fundraise for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin working closely with staff in special events, annual programs and patient care. She has more than 10 years of experience as a fundraiser and joined the foundation in March 2008 as manager of annual gifts.
  • Peg DuBord has been named president of Transitional Living Services (TLS), an affiliate of the Milwaukee Center for Independence. DuBord was selected after a national search and was most recently the interim executive director of Mental Health Resources Inc. in Minneapolis.
  • H. Carl Mueller, president and owner of Mueller Communications in Milwaukee has joined Milwaukee-based Jewish Family Services Inc.’s board of directors. 

Tri-Adathon, a joint venture between Milwaukee-based Catral Doyle creative, the Welke Group and Elm Grove-based Clear Verve Marketing, selected 21 nonprofit organizations to receive 24 hours of free pro bono marketing support. The services provided include marketing communications, strategic planning, web site design, radio scripting, graphic design, and media relations planning. “Working together on these projects really opens up the things we can do for people,” said Christina Steder, owner of Clear Verve Marketing. “It allows me to take a project that maybe my firm could only do half of, and bring in these other people to finish it because that is their specialty.”
According to Steder, the event was well received, and is something the firms plan to do on an annual basis. Click here to view a video about the Tri-Adathon event and its efforts. St. Joan Antida High School High School was one organization selected for the Tri-Adathon effort.

What makes your organization unique? Founded in 1954, St. Joan Antida High School (SJA) has served the educational needs and life aspirations of young women for over a half-century in Milwaukee. The heritage of St. Joan Antida High School is richly threaded with a continuous celebration of cultural diversity, academic achievement and Catholic values. Educational programs and co-curricular activities have continued to evolve and develop throughout the years to provide young women with an education that prepares them for success. Today, St. Joan Antida High School is the only all girls urban high school in Wisconsin. More importantly, located in downtown Milwaukee, the school serves a diverse ethnic population, shaping and challenging the minds of today’s young women.
Why did you want to get involved in the Tri-Adathon effort? As a small high school, SJA has limited internal staff that can focus on marketing and public relations. When the Tri-Adathon event was brought to our attention by a board member, it seemed like the perfect opportunity for us to freshen our brand image and get creative input on marketing materials that had not been updated in almost four years.

What help did you receive from Tri-Adathon? As part of the Tri-Adathon, the Welke Group produced the following for SJA: Informational brochure and templates, 60-second radio spot, and quarter page color advertisement.

What are you immediate organizational goals as a result of the Tri-Adathon effort? SJA will use the materials produced at Tri-Adathon to promote brand recognition and drive interest in the school for new student enrollment. The materials will also be used to promote the school with potential donors and community supporters. This effort has given us a much more comprehensive set of tools to help us illustrate the positive impact that our school has on the young women who attend.

St. Joan’s is in search of individuals with marketing and public relations expertise to help raise the profile of the school.

How can business people/the community help your organization? Individuals and businesses can volunteer as tutors, serve on school committees and sponsor our annual fundraiser. Monetary gifts as well as gifts of time and talent are always welcome!
