Tuesday, Nov. 9 The Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Milwaukee Chapter will host its 32nd annual Partners in Philanthropy Awards Luncheon at the Frontier Airlines Center in Milwaukee. The event will honor area individuals and celebrate the impact of philanthropy throughout Greater Milwaukee area. Guests must register for the luncheon before Wednesday, Nov. 3. The 2010 Award honorees will include Robert and Patricia Kern, Andrea Bryant, Dr. Ron and Kay Zupko, Julie Tolan and Kohl’s Department Stores. Tickets for the luncheon are $50 each. - Friday, Nov. 5 ArtWorks for Milwaukee, Inc., will host the second annual Night by the River at Manpower’s Global Headquarters, 100 Manpower Drive from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will support current and future programming for Milwaukee County youth. Craft beers, wines, martinis and cocktails will be provided by Rehorst Vodka and Gin and Martita’s Guiltless Margaritas. Hors d’oeuvres will be provided by Sabor Braziliann Churrascaria, and live music and a silent auction will also be highlighted. Mark Metcalf, ‘the Maestro” on hit television show Seinfeld and ‘the Mayor’ on television show Mad Men will guest emcee for the event. Cost to attend is $25 per person in advance or $30 at the door. - Sunday, Nov. 7 The Wisconsin Philharmonic orchestra will honor Veterans at its second annual Veterans Pops Concert in partnership with the Waukesha County Museum at Shattuck Auditorium on the Carroll University campus beginning at 3 p.m. The concert will feature works by some of America’s greatest composers. Memorabilia will be on display to help transport the audience back to the WWII era. It will also give a glimpse into what one would see at the Museum’s Memories of WWII exhibit, which opens on Veteran’s Day. Attendees will receive $1 off the exhibit admission. - Friday, Nov. 12 The Pride of Kenosha, in support of the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha will be held at Madrigrano Marina Shores from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $50 a piece or $450 for a packet of 10 tickets in advance. - Saturday, Nov. 13 The Alzheimer’s Association and the Huntington’s Disease Society of America will host Expanding Horizons, a family care givers conference at the Country Springs Hotel, Grand Salon, 2810 Golf Road in Pewaukee. The conference will focus on aspects of providing care for a person with Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s Disease or other related forms of dementia. Leading medical researchers, therapists, financial experts and experienced caregivers will present the information at the conference. Sessions will cover research updates, long-term planning and benefits, home safety and wellness and is geared toward the needs of family caregivers, agencies, students, partners, educators, administrators, social workers, healthcare professionals, social service coordinators and college professors. Two family caregivers can attend the conference for $25, and two health care professionals can attend for $60 as part of the special registration fee. The fee includes lunch, parking, conference book and handouts. A certificate of attendance will be furnished for attending healthcare professionals. - Tuesday, Nov.16 RitzHolman CPAs, will host a seminar entitled "Nonprofit Financial Management Update,” at IndependenceFirst from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event will focus on topics such as the health care reform tax credit, an update on 403(b) plans and the best practices for financial information in annual reports. - Wednesday, Dec. 1 The YWCA of Greater Milwaukee will host it’s sixth annual Evening to Promote Racial Justice at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, Bradley Pavilion. CNN anchor and special correspondent, Soledad O’Brien will be the keynote speaker for the event. A cash bar and hors d’oeuvres will begin at 5 p.m. and the annual eliminating racism and empowering women awards will beginat 6:30 p.m. Cost to attend is $50 per person or $20 for students.
