*Wednesday, May 29, the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee will present a workshop titled “Getting Started with Grant Writing.” The workshop, taught by nonprofit consultant Michele Goldstein, will be tailored toward individuals who do not have previous grant writing experience and will focus on crucial steps in the grant writing and research process. Cost to attend is $25 for Nonprofit Center members and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) agencies. Nonmembers can attend for $40. The workshop will be held at the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee’s office, located at 2819 W. *Monday, June 3, the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) Greater Milwaukee Chapter will attend the Brewers game at Miller Park, located at 1 Brewers Way in Milwaukee. The Brewers will take on the Oakland Athletics starting at 7:10 p.m. Individual tickets cost $18, and proceeds will help fund professional development opportunities and additional resources for professionals throughout Milwaukee. The YNPN group plans to meet at 5:30 p.m. at Kelly’s Bleachers, located at 5218 W. Blue Mound Rd. in Milwaukee, and will take a shuttle to the stadium from there. *Tuesday, June 4, BoardStar Inc. will host a workshop focused on “Strategic Planning and the Role of the Board.” The information session, which will be led by nonprofit consultant Frank Martinelli, will guide attendees through best practices in the strategic planning process. The workshop will touch on the timeline of strategic planning, who should be involved in planning and how progress should be evaluated among other topics. The workshop fee is $35 for BoardStar members and $50 for nonmembers. The workshop will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at Pathfinders, located at 4200 N. Holton, Ste. 400 in Milwaukee. *Thursday, June 6, Target Free First Thursday will grant free admission to visitors at the Milwaukee Art Museum, 700 N. Art Museum Dr. in Milwaukee. *Sunday, June 9, Historic Milwaukee, Inc. will present a Wisconsin Avenue Churches Tour with stops in churches primarily built in the late 1860s through the 1920s. The tour will highlight the architectural features of each church, which range from Gothic Revival, Lombard and Victorian Romanesque to Modern. The tour will be led by Dr. Judy Wimmer, a former professor and administrator at a host of universities and a current docent and tour guide for Historic Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Public Museum. The tour will begin at 1 p.m. at Central Library, located at 814 W. Wisconsin Ave. in Milwaukee. Cost is $10 for Historic Milwaukee members and $20 for nonmembers. Registration is required.
