*Monday, Jan. 7, IndependenceFirst Mobility Store will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its store location, 12040 W. Feerick St., Unit N in Wauwatosa. During open houses, area residents can purchase like new equipment such as wheelchairs and bath aids and also donate mobile and medical devices. Donations will be eligible for tax deductions. People attending the open house will be entered into a drawing for an iPod touch and will receive an extra entry for bringing a friend. *Monday, Jan. 7, through Friday, Jan. 11, Potawatomi Bingo Casino will host the 11th annual “A Tribute to The King Contest” in which 17 Elvis Presley tribute artists will compete to win $25,001. The event will include daytime shows and nighttime performances in the casino’s Northern Lights Theater. All proceeds from ticket sales for daytime shows will benefit the casino’s signature “Miracle on Canal Street” charity campaign. Daytime shows are scheduled for 3 p.m. on Jan. 7; noon and 3 p.m. on Jan. 8, 9 and 10; and 2 p.m. on Jan. 11. Tickets cost $5 for balcony seating and $7 for booth and table seating. *Tuesday, Jan. 8, BoardStar will host a workshop focused on Nonprofit Sustainability. The workshop will help board directors analyze their business model and make strategic decisions to ensure the sustainability of their nonprofit organization. The event will cover how to determine the value of programs useful for clients and programs that bring in revenue as well as how to create both mission impact and financial viability among other topics. The workshop will be held at Pathfinders, 4200 N. Holton, Suite 400 in Milwaukee, starting at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $35 for BoardStar members and $50 for nonmembers, and the event will include light appetizers. *Thursday, Jan. 10, Volunteer Wisconsin will host a Webinar focused on “Navigating the Waters of Confrontation with Volunteers.” The Webinar is the third in a series presented by Volunteer Wisconsin. This session will explain techniques for maneuvering uncomfortable situations and confrontations in a workplace environment with volunteers. The session, scheduled for 2 p.m., will be led by Lori Hayes, division manager, volunteer engagement at United Way of Waukesha County. Admission costs $10. *Saturday, Jan. 12, Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity will hold a new volunteer orientation for individuals interested in donating their time. The orientation will run from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Milwaukee Habitat’s main office, located at 3726 N. Booth St. in Milwaukee. Orientation space is limited, and pre-registration is required. *Saturday, Jan. 19, AMF Bowlero will hold the fifth annual “Strikes for Hope” charity bowling tournament to benefit the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center. Cost to participate is $10, which includes bowling and shoe rental expenses. Organizers also request that bowlers raise a minimum of $25 to donate to the cancer center. Bowling rounds will begin at noon and 3 p.m. with registration at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top bowlers and teams that donate the most money. AMF Bowlero is located at 11737 W. Burleigh Ave. in Wauwatosa. Participants can register online at www.strikesforhope.com/index.php/events through Jan. 9.

*Sunday, Jan. 20, the Milwaukee Public Museum will host its Spark! series for caregivers and individuals affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Spark! programs offer interactive, sensory exhibit experiences guided by museum educators. Programs include an hour-long museum experience followed by a half hour-long coffee session to allow participants time to socialize and support one another. The programs scheduled for Jan. 20 will focus on life for humans, animals and plants in the Artic. Programs are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and are free of charge, thanks to funding from the Helen Bader Foundation. Participants must pre-register for Spark! and can do so by calling 414-278-2714.
