A new 152,000-square-foot Walmart store opened today at 15205 W. Greenfield Ave. in New Berlin.

The store replaces the 105,000-square-foot Walmart store in the Moorland Square shopping center at 15333 W. National Ave. in New Berlin. That storeโ€™s last day of business was Monday.

The new store was built on a 16-acre site that Walmart acquired for about $5.3 million, according to state records. That site once included a Charcoal Grill restaurant.

Walmart has opened several stores in southeastern Wisconsin in recent years. Last year the company opened a new 140,000 store in the former Loweโ€™s building at 6300 W. Brown Deer Road in Brown Deer. The company also plans to build a Samโ€™s Club store at Bradley Road and North 124th Street in Milwaukee to replace the Samโ€™s Club store at 7701 W. Calumet Road.
