On the heels of last Friday night’s debate, the Wisconsin gubernatorial race between Republican Scott Walker and Democrat Tom Barrett is now in a dead heat, according to the latest poll conducted for the Barrett campaign.
The poll of 514 likely Wisconsin voters shows Walker with the support of 46 percent of the respondents and Barrett with 45 percent, well within the poll’s margin of error of 4.3 percent. Nine percent of the respondents said they were undecided.
The poll was conducted last Sunday, Sept. 26, and Tuesday, Sept. 28, by Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin, Metz & Associates.
In an e-mail to Barrett campaign manager Bill Hyers, pollster Paul Maslin stated, “According to our recent survey, momentum in the Wisconsin Governor’s race is clearly with Democrat Tom Barrett, who has pulled into a dead heat with Republican Scott Walker, just two weeks since Walker’s victory in the Republican primary.”
Hyers used the news to mount a new fundraising campaign to raise $25,000 to “push the peddle to the metal” by buying a new television ad during the broadcast of the football game between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
