New construction

Construction began recently for an $800,000 child care facility at Lakeland College’s primary campus in Sheboygan County. The building will be the new home for Learning Tree Academy, the college’s 21-year-old child care program, which is currently housed in two locations at Lakeland. The facility has been named the Ambrose D. DeLand Child Care Center, thanks to a gift of $300,000 provided by The DeLand Foundation to help fund the project. DeLand was a prominent early Sheboygan businessman who designated his estate to be used to benefit children. The center will be open for the start of the 2011-12 school year, and will have space for 42 children. Quasius Construction of Sheboygan is the project’s general contractor.

Butler-based Berghammer Construction Corp. recently began construction for a 20,000-square-foot remodeling project for Concours Motors in Glendale. The improvements include a new façade and five new independent showrooms for Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Porsche, Mazda/Saab and the pre-owned vehicles.
