The number of new businesses formed in Wisconsin in the first quarter increased by 12.2 percent compared with the same period in 2011, according to data released by the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI).
New business formation totaled 9,821 in the first quarter, compared with 8,752 in 2011
March showed a 4.3% improvement over 2011, the 10th time in the past 12 months that new business formation has increased over the previous year.
The business formation data is compiled by DFI’s Division of Corporate and Consumer Services, which is the filing office for the creation of business entities in the state. The division tracks new business creation on a monthly basis.
