Cory Nettles, managing director of Generation Growth Capital and former secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, has joined the Greater Milwaukee Foundation Board.
“We are excited to have Cory joining our Board,” said Ellen Gilligan, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. “He brings private, and nonprofit sectors.”
Nettles succeeds Frank Gimbel, an attorney and founding partner of Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown LLP, who served on the Board since 2002 and completed his term in June.
In addition to Generation Growth Capital, a Milwaukee-based private equity fund he founded in 2007, Nettles also serves as of counsel in Quarles & Brady’s corporate services and government relations groups. Nettles had served two years in former Gov. Jim Doyle’s administration as secretary of the Department of Commerce prior to joining the corporate sector. Under Nettles’ leadership, the department invested $280 million in businesses and communities in the state.
He serves on various corporate and nonprofit boards including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Partners Advancing Values in Education, United Way of Greater Milwaukee, the Medical College of Wisconsin and the Usher’s New Look Foundation.
