Navy Pier officials have selected James Corner Field Operations, the landscape architecture firm behind New York’s renowned High Line park, to spearhead Navy Pier’s redesign.
Architect James Corner and his team were approved this morning by the board of Navy Pier Inc., the nonprofit that runs the state’s most popular tourist attraction, confirming the strategic planning panel’s recommendation. James Corner Field Operations was among five finalists in Navy Pier’s search for a design team that began six months ago and drew 52 submissions.
“Having an internationally renowned design firm like James Corner Field Operations working with one of our city’s greatest icons demonstrates that Chicago has the energy and vision to continue to lead on the world stage,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in a statement. Read more.
