Michael Sheppard, an experienced financial advisor, has opened a new firm called Ironwood Capital Group in Milwaukee.
Sheppard was most recently senior managing director at Principal Financial Group in Milwaukee, where he worked for four years. He previously has worked in the Milwaukee market as chief development officer at the Lueder Financial Group for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co.; vice president and wealth strategist at Northern Trust Corp.; and financial representative/college unit director at Cornerstone Financial Group for Northwestern Mutual. Sheppard holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from North Dakota State University, where he was captain of the football team. Earlier in his career, he played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Omaha Beef professional football teams.
Ironwood Capital is based in a temporary office at 1433 N. Water St. in Milwaukee, with plans to open a permanent office in fall 2020. Sheppard is a managing partner at Securian Financial Services, a broker-dealer and registered investment advisory firm, which will provide resources and products for Ironwood Capital. Ironwood provides financial strategies for both individuals and businesses.

Sheppard is currently working to hire a team of financial advisors to build out the new office.
