Metro Milwaukee home sales up 20 percent, but prices are flat

Sales in the four county metro Milwaukee were up 20 percent in March and 9 percent in the first quarter of the year compared to the same periods in 2009, according to statistics released by Metro MLS Inc.
March home sales were up 23.5 percent in Milwaukee County, up 10.5 percent in Waukesha County, up 29.3 percent in Washington County and up 11.5 percent in Ozaukee County.
The prices of homes sold in the four county metro area were flat (up 0.1 percent) for the first quarter, compared to the first quarter of 2009. The average price of homes sold was up 15.1 percent in Milwaukee County to $134,527 and up 2.8 percent in Waukesha County to $267,419, but prices were down 3.0 percent in Washington County to $198,786 and down 6.0 percent in Ozaukee County to $220,412.
Home prices were also down 12.5 percent in Racine County to $131,345 and down 11.8 percent to $142,931 in Kenosha County.
