Clifton Gunderson makes another acquisition; Ansay & Associates makes another strategic merger; Fisher-Barton acquires Texas company

Clifton Gunderson makes another acquisition

Milwaukee-based Clifton Gunderson, one of the nation’s largest certified public accounting and consulting firms, has acquired Meyners + Co.,  a CPA firm based in Albuquerque, N.M.

We are eager to combine these strengths with Meyners + Co. to further expand our presence in Albuquerque and help our clients grow and prosper in the future.”

With the acquisition, five partners will join Clifton Gunderson, including Cathy Brown, Ben Darwin, Brandon Haines, Georgie Ortiz and Patrick Wilkins, in addition to 58 Meyners + Co. employees.

“With Clifton Gunderson’s strong presence across the country, this combination will allow us to expand our existing assurance and tax practices and support our desire to grow in additional strategic services,” said Ortiz. “We are excited about the tremendous network of resources offered by Clifton Gunderson, which will enhance the opportunities to serve our clients’ needs as well as provide great opportunities for our professionals.”

This is the seventh merger and acquisition announcement for Clifton Gunderson since May 2010. Combined, the seven mergers and acquisitions account for more than 200 new employees and six new geographic locations for Clifton Gunderson.

“Our recent merger and acquisition activity directly aligns with our aggressive strategy to grow our business, increase our geographic footprint and expand the resources and expertise we provide to our clients and future clients. Our most recent acquisition of Meyners + Co. provides us a great opportunity to better serve the needs of our clients in Albuquerque and across the country,” McMasters said.

Ansay & Associates makes another strategic merger

Ansay & Associates, a Port Washington-based insurance and benefit solutions agency, continues to expand by merging with Babbitt-Sholund of Neenah.

With the merger of Babbitt-Sholund, Ansay & Associates has nearly 200 employees, more than $20 million in annual revenue and seven offices including Port Washington, West Bend, Manitowoc, Little Chute, Green Bay and Mosinee.

“This strategic merger continues Ansay & Associate’s vision of being a statewide insurance and benefits advisor giving peace-of-mind to each of our customers by providing the best insurance and benefit solutions to protect their futures,” said Mike Ansay, chief executive officer of Ansay & Assiociates.

“This merger positions Ansay & Associates with a strong presence in the Appleton and Neenah region, and helps our advisors provide people in this part of Wisconsin with the most secure and innovative insurance and benefit solutions available,” said Tom Schaetz, president and chief operating officer of Ansay & Associates.

Tim Rusch, owner, and Glenn Vanderloop, manager of Babbitt-Sholund, have 20 employees and $2 million in annual revenues.

“Tim and Glenn have the same core values as Ansay. They also believe in strong, long-term customer and carrier relationships. This will be an excellent fit for our customers and a strong growth opportunity for our company,” Schaetz said.

As soon as operationally possible, the Neenah and Little Chutes offices of Ansay & Associates will be physically combined, and Rusch will lead the combined offices.

Ansay & Associates said it continuing to look for more strategic merger and acquisition opportunities.

Fisher-Barton acquires Texas company

The Fisher-Barton Group, headquartered in Waukesha, has acquired Lineage Alloys, a thermal spray powder manufacturer located near Houston, Texas.

The transaction combines two successful coating manufacturers, adding more depth to Fisher-Barton’s engineered wear resistance solutions.

Founded in 1973, the Fisher-Barton family now has six members: Waukesha-based Accurate Specialties Inc.; Fisher-Barton Blades Inc. and Fisher-Barton Specialty Products Inc. located in Watertown; Fisher-Barton South Carolina Inc. located near Greenville, S.C.; Thermal Spray Technologies Inc. in Sun Prairie; and the newest addition, Lineage Alloys in Texas.

“This new partnership is very exciting for us,” states Bill Lenling, president of Thermal Spray Technologies Inc. “With more than 35 years of coating expertise, and a solid reputation of manufacturing high quality thermal spray powders, Lineage Alloys complements our existing capabilities nicely. The acquisition will help to further advance the performance and durability of all surface engineered coatings currently produced for our customers.”
