Mellowes to be honored as Rotarian of the Year

The Rotary Club of Milwaukee will honor John Mellowes, chairman and CEO of Charter Manufacturing with the 2010 Rotary Person of the Year- Vocational Recognition Award on Tuesday, June 22.
The Rotary Person of the Year Award celebrates individuals who, through their profession, have made the community a better place to live and work by contributing in the form of important leadership activities or in the advancement of ideas, products or services.
Employment at Charter Manufacturing has more then tripled since Mellowes took over in a leadership role, and under his leadership the company has been able to generate wealth, employment and contribute to the economic stability of the community.
Other recipients of the award include, Tim Sullivan, president and chief executive officer of Bucyrus International; George Mosher, entrepreneur, investor and former founder of National Business Furniture; Sue Dragisic, former president and chief executive officer of the United Way of Greater Milwaukee; William Petasnick, president and chief executive officer of Froedtert Hospital and the Froedtert & Community Health system; and Barry Mandel; president of the Mandel Group.
Mellowes will be honored at Memorial Hall on the third floor of the War Memorial, 750 N. Lincoln Drive. His remarks will begin at 12:30 p.m.
