Retailer opening fifth Wisconsin store this summer

Big box retailer Meijer will hire 280 employees for its new Sussex supercenter, the company announced Friday.

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer is hiring employees in all departments for the Sussex store, which it plans to open this summer at Highway 164 and Highway K. The positions include cashiers, receiving, customer service, meat cutters, clerks and cake decorators. Pay rate will be based on applicants’ experience and skills.

Meijer entered the Wisconsin market in 2015, opening stores in Kenosha and Grafton in June and in Oak Creek and Wauwatosa in August. This year, it will open stores in Waukesha and Sussex. It also has plans to open stores in West Bend, Sheboygan and Greenfield. Each Meijer store is about 192,000 square feet in size and features general merchandise and full grocery departments.
