Milwaukee-based multi-family housing developer Mandel Group plans to build a two-building, 60-unit luxury apartment development at Sendik’s Towne Centre, located southwest of Capitol Drive and Brookfield Road in Brookfield.
Mandel recently purchased two outlots, totaling 4.3 acres, at Sendik’s Towne Centre from Phillips Edison & Company, the owner of the 189,000-square-foot lifestyle center. The sale price for the outlots was $491,915, according to state records.
Mandel plans to build the two luxury apartment buildings on the two outlots.
“Mandel Group is the preeminent developer of luxury apartments in the Wisconsin market. Their luxury apartments and amenities align with our vision for the overall development, and are consistent with the development goals of the City of Brookfield. Our site is attractive due to the demographics, strength of Sendik`s Fine Foods and our plan for continued improvements to the center and merchandising mix of retailers and restaurants,” said Scott Mitchell, senior vice president of the Strategic Investment Funds at Phillips Edison & Company.
Construction will begin on both apartment buildings later this year. The smaller building, located at the southwest corner of Thomson Drive and Brookfield Road, is expected to open by the end of 2014 followed by the larger building, located at the northeast corner of Thomson Drive and Richland Parkway.
“Mandel Group is pleased to be part of such a vibrant retail and office center. The development of these residences is consistent with our mission to develop walkable communities throughout the area and is a natural extension of the multi-family developments along Thomson Drive,” said Phillip Aiello, senior development manager for Mandel Group.
