MADISON – Lawmakers to reintroduce bill allowing doctor apology without fear of malpractice suit

Leaders of the state Legislature’s health committees plan to reintroduce a bill to make apologies by health care providers inadmissible in malpractice cases.

 

“The goal … is to provide medical professionals with the ability to express condolences or apologies to patients or their families without fear of frivolous malpractice lawsuits,” Rep. Erik Severson, R-Star Prairie, and Sen. Leah Vukmir, R-Wauwatosa, wrote Monday in an email seeking co-sponsors.
