Lake Lawn to reopen on time, despite storm damage

Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan said it still plans to reopen on July 22, despite damage from Monday’s severe thundersorms.

The storm knocked down 40 trees on the resort property and caused roof, gutter, and lighting damage. Some of the damages are not covered by insurance.

“While this has been one of the worst storms local residents can recall, we are dedicated to getting this Midwestern gem up and running. We are still on track to open our guestrooms on July 22, as originally planned,” said owner Jim Drescher.

Drescher and other investors purchased the property earlier this year and reopened the golf course, marina, pool, and restaurants at the resort. The golf course was closed after the storm, but re-opened Tuesday with 9 holes available to play.

The 281-room resort closed last year after it was taken over by a consortium of banks led, by Madison-based AnchorBank, which foreclosed on the property.
