Gundersen Health System’s new hospital will be named the Legacy Building, and the current facility will be called the Heritage Building.
“One of the things we were toying with was how to deal with the buildings and identify them without saying ‘old’ and ‘new,’” because that might discredit the present facility, said Jan DeHaan, Gundersen’s operations vice president.

Focus groups of staffers and patient advisory groups made several suggestions, including family names, DeHaan said.
Gundersen officials picked Heritage and Legacy because of the messages they convey, she said.
