Phoenix Burger LLC, a subsidiary of Milwaukee-based Phoenix Investors, purchased the La Perla property at 734 S. 5th St. for $452,000 from La Perla Real Estate LLC, and another nearby property, at 717 S. 4th St., for $548,000 from Nicholas and Jo Ann Anton, the owners of La Perla, according to state real estate records.

The Antons sold the restaurant after 21 years in business, and closed the restaurant last Saturday.

A spokesperson for Phoenix Investors said the company has no comment on the future plans of the buildings, but that “there is a good chance (the former La Perla site) will re-open as a restaurant.”

Phoenix Burger LLC is also listed on city records as the owner of the Hamburger Mary’s building at 2130 S. Kinnickinnick Ave. A Hamburger Mary’s manager said earlier this week that the restaurant’s lease on the Bay View building has five more years but to “stay tuned.” He would not comment further. Franchise owner Julie Slota could not be reached for comment.
