Menomonee Falls-based Kohl’s Department Stores had added to global relief efforts for last week’s earthquake in Nepal with a $50,000 cash donation to the American Red Cross.
The organization is distributing emergency supplies, resources and services to individuals and families devastated by the natural disaster.
“We are deeply saddened by the devastation and heartache experienced by so many throughout Nepal and our hearts go out to all the families and communities who were impacted,” Bevin Bailis, Kohl’s senior vice president of public relations and communications, said in a press release. “Kohl’s is honored to be in a position to provide financial assistance as these communities come together to repair and rebuild during this difficult time.”
Kohl’s is continuing to encourage its employees and customers to back relief efforts by donating to the International Response Fund at www.redcross.org or via phone at 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767).
Other local relief efforts include an online fundraising campaign spearheaded by Barkha Daily, co-owner of the cheel in Thiensville. Daily, a native of Nepal with many family members and friends living in Kathmandu, is pushing to raise at least $10,000. She is closing in on the halfway mark of her goal.
Donations to Daily’s campaign, titled “Hope for Nepal,” can be made by visiting http://gogetfunding.com/project/hope-for-nepal.
