Key Kenosha County projects

•    Orlando-based Quality Centers plans to build a 800,000- to 1 million-square-foot retail development at the northwest corner of I-94 and Highway 50.

•    Highland Park, Ill.-based Tucker Development Corp. is redeveloping the former Original Outlet Mall property at the southwest corner of I-94 and Highway 50.

•    Abbott Park, Ill.-based Abbott Laboratories Inc. has purchased about 500 acres of vacant land at the northwest corner of I-94 and Highway 165/Highway Q in Pleasant Prairie. The company says the land is for “future expansion,” but has not disclosed any details.

•    Wal-Mart plans to build a new supercenter store as part of a 500,000-square-foot retail development planned for the intersection of Green Bay and Washington roads in the Town of Somers.

•    The Menominee Tribe and developers Dennis Troha plan to build an $808 million casino and entertainment complex at Dairyland Greyhound Park in Kenosha. The proposed casino would be a 116,000-square-foot gaming facility with 3,100 slot machines and 75 table games. The existing greyhound track would remain part of the complex, which would also have a 400-room hotel, several restaurants and a 5,000-seat multi-use entertainment center. The project still needs approval from the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs and Gov. Jim Doyle.
