Joy Global to establish Oak Creek facility

Milwaukee-based Joy Global Inc., the parent company of P&H Mining Equipment Inc., plans to establish a distribution facility in Oak Creek that would have more than 100 employees, according to sources.

The company has signed a lease for a 305,065-square-foot building at 10001 S. Howell Ave. in Oak Creek, sources said.

One source said Joy Global could use the facility for manufacturing and distribution operations, but other sources described the company’s plans for the building as strictly a distribution facility.

An executive at Joy Global declined to comment on the firm’s plans for the building, and another executive could not be reached for comment.

The building was purchased in November by OC Holdings LLC, a subsidiary of Franklin-based Kendor Marine Corp., a boat supplies and equipment firm.

The building was vacant when it was purchased by OC Holdings. Previously it was occupied by Bentley World-Packaging Ltd. Before that it had been occupied by Viasystems Inc., which closed its operations there in 2009.

Steve Anderson, president and CEO of Greenfield-based Anderson Commercial Group, brokered the sale for OC Holdings. He declined to comment for this report.
