Join celebrity bellringers for Salvation Army at Public Market

Readers of BizTimes Milwaukee are invited to pay a visit to the Milwaukee Public Market on Thursday, Dec. 11, when local celebrities will be ringing the bells and asking for donations to the Salvation Army’s Red Kettles.

This year’s Red Kettle Christmas Campaign goal in Milwaukee is $3.8 million, an ambitious goal needed to sustain year-round programming for more than 80 critical programs and services to help families and children in need.

Various media personalities and community leaders will be ringing the bells at the Public Market on behalf of the Salvation Army of Milwaukee County on Dec. 11. Join BizTimes executive editor Steve Jagler for his shift as a bell ringer and make a donation from 10 to 11 a.m.

The Salvation Army is preparing to host its 25th annual Christmas Family Feast on Christmas Day from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. More than 1,400 volunteers will prepare a homestyle dinner of turkey, ham, yams, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, dessert and beverages for more than 8,000 people in the ballroom of the Wisconsin Center District, located in downtown Milwaukee at 400 W. Wisconsin Ave. The event is the largest feeding program hosted by the Salvation Army on Christmas Day in the country. It is free and open to the public. Guests receive gifts while supplies last.

“Christmas Family Feast is a Milwaukee tradition bringing together those in need and those of means for a day of fun, food, friendship and fellowship,” said Major Dan Jennings, Salvation Army divisional commander for Wisconsin and upper Michigan.
