The executive who was expected to be the future president and chief operating officer of the Johnson Controls spin-off Adient is leaving the Glendale-based company and will not be associated with the new venture when it goes public in October.
Johnson Controls announced the departure of Beda Bolzenius in a filing today with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Johnson Controls spokesman Fraser Engerman said he could only confirm that Bolzenius would be leaving the company effective March 31 and he would not be associated with Adient.
Johnson Controls is in the process of separating its automotive experience business from the rest of the company. Bruce McDonald, Johnson Controls executive vice president, has been named as the chief executive officer of the new company and Bolzenius was to serve as president and COO.
McDonald said in January the new company will be more focused and will return to growth once its free from capital constraints imposed as Johnson Controls moved into multiple industries.
Bolzenius joined Johnson Controls in 2004 and was named a vice president in 2005. He served as president of automotive experience or automotive seating starting in 2006. He had a base salary of $881,000 in fiscal 2015 and total compensation of $6.5 million.
Bolzenius holds a Ph.D in physics from Bonn University. Prior to joining Johnson Controls, he worked at Robert Bosch GmbH and was president of Bosch’s body electronics division.
