JFS is a social service agency that offers counseling, programs and other services to 2,200 people each year.

“Government funding and private gifts and grants are being stretched to the limit, so we must work hard to be efficient and caring at the same time,” said JFS Board Chair Bonnie Bockl Joseph. “John (Yopps) brings a caring heart and strong business and organizational skills at a critical time in our history.”

While at Phoenix Care Systems, Yopps ran company operations, program and service development and oversaw agency performance. He received a bachelor of science degree in social welfare from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a master’s of business management in disability services degree from the University of San Francisco.

“I am honored to have been chosen to lead Jewish Family Services, an agency that for nearly 150 years has played such a life-altering role for individuals and families in our community and will continue to do so for generations to come,” Yopps said. “I look forward to working with the board, staff, dedicated volunteers and community partners, and to using my expertise and experience for the greater good. These are challenging times, but I’m confident that together we can continue to deepen and broaden the impact of this incredible organization.”
