Northwoods Software Development Inc. positioned itself as a national player in content management when it deployed Titan Version 4.
The 10-year-old Brown Deer-based firm specializes in custom software engineering and Web development.
With Titan V4, non-programmers are able to publish, launch and manage entire Web sites without assistance from professional programmers or other technical resources.
“You can launch an entirely different Web site with a different look and feel, without the involvement of a programmer,” said Rick Fessenbecker, managing director of Northwoods Software Development. “The ease in doing that is what is innovative.”
The latest version of Titan allows anyone to download and install it from Northwoods’ Web site. Previously, Northwoods’ scope was primarily southeastern Wisconsin businesses and organizations because the software needed to be installed by Northwoods personnel.
In addition to its accessibility, Titan V4 supports Web 2.0 technologies like tagging and editing, cascading style sheets and really simple syndication (RSS) feed. Titan also allows users to manage multiple pages at once and automatically updates aggregation pages.
“The new version is easier to use, with an improved what you see is what you get functionality and with an incredibly simple way for people without technical backgrounds to create entirely new Web sites,” Fessenbecker said.
Content for more than 300 Web sites is managed with Titan software, including American International Group Inc., the City of Milwaukee and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
