A groundbreaking ceremony was held this morning to celebrate the start of construction of a 115,000-square-foot Walmart store in South Milwaukee.
The store will be built at 222 N. Chicago Ave., at the northwest corner of Chicago and Davis avenues in South Milwaukee.
The store is one of several that Walmart plans to build, or is already building, in the metro Milwaukee area.

The South Milwaukee Walmart store will have about 175 employees. It is expected to open in the spring of 2013.
Gurnee, Ill.-based WM. A. Randolph Inc. is the construction manager for the project.
