The V. Richard’s grocery store at 17165 W. Bluemound Road in Brookfield will close after more than 20 years in that location and the space, approximately 20,000 square feet, will be filled by a CVS Pharmacy.

In addition, Milwaukee-based Roundy’s Supermarkets Inc. plans to convert the Pick ‘n Save grocery store at 17630 W. Bluemound Road into an upscale Metro Market store.

Roundy’s opened its first Metro Market store in downtown Milwaukee in 2004. The company is also planning to convert a Mequon Pick ‘n Save store into a Metro Market store.

The vacant former Hollywood Video store building near the Bluemound Road Pick ‘n Save store will be demolished and the grocery store will be expanded as part of the project to convert it into a Metro Market store, said Dan Ertl, director of community development for Brookfield.

The grocery market has become more competitive in Brookfield in recent years with the addition of more stores including Pick ‘n Save on Greenfield Avenue, Sendik’s stores and The Fresh Market store next to Brookfield Square Mall.
