The Granville-Brown Deer Chamber, which represents the northwest side of Milwaukee’s Granville area and the Village of Brown Deer, has announced it will dissolve.

Formed in 2002, the Chamber has worked to promote economic development, quality of life and shared success among residents, businesses and visitors to the area.

“Through the work of Granville Business Improvement District 48 created in 2013, economic development and the specific needs of a very strong manufacturing and industrial community are currently being addressed,” said Barb Fleming, Granville-Brown Deer Chamber president.  “An opportunity has been created for Brown Deer to promote the village and refocus on the needs of
its existing area businesses. Both parties have agreed to continue their collaboration and cooperation on regional issues of mutual interest, including the current Brown Deer Road corridor study.”

The Granville-Brown Deer Chamber’s activities included “Diversity Dialogue” seminars, a free summer concert series called “Community Vibes,” business and community expos, “Vision Series” luncheons, ribbon-cutting ceremonies for new businesses and networking events.

Alderman Robert Puente, who represents the 9th district included in the Chamber’s focus area, said the organization played an important role in community building in the area by encouraging partnership and collaboration.

“The chamber fulfilled its role and completed its course of work, and the creation in 2013 of the Granville Business Improvement District 48 will ensure that the needs of local businesses and manufacturers continue to be addressed, and that economic development and beneficial improvements will be championed going forward,” Puente said.
