Go-kart and family entertainment center planned in Brookfield

Mark Damico plans to open Top Dog Speedway and Family Entertainment Center in a 43,000-square-foot vacant building at 21875 Doral Road in the Town of Brookfield.
The building was previously occupied by Miller-O’Connell Corp., a printing company. Miller-O’Connell was acquired by Burton & Mayer Inc. from Lang Holdings in 2008.
Top Dog Speedway and Family Entertainment Center would have two indoor electric go-kart tracks, a 9-hole dark light miniature golf course, a golf simulator, batting cages, 50 to 60 arcade games, party rooms and food service.
The go-kart tracks will be the biggest attraction, Damico said. One will be geared for young children. The other will have high speed go-karts, with speeds that can be adjusted for races with different age groups.
Damico is seeking approval of a condition use permit from the project from the Town Board.
Top Dog would compete with several other similar entertainment centers for children and families in and near Brookfield including Monkey Joe’s, 2040 W. Bluemound Road, Waukesha; The Big Backyard, 2857 S. 160th St., New Berlin; Pump It Up, 195 N. Janacek Road, Brookfield; Chuck E. Cheese’s, 19125 W. Bluemound Road, Brookfield; and StoneFire Pizza Co., 5320 S. Moorland Road, New Berlin.
But Damico said Top Dog "has a much broader appeal," than those places, which are mostly "geared towad the younger kids."
Teens and young adults will enjoy the facility, he said. Damico also hopes to attract corporate events.
He hopes to open Top Dog in July.
