GESTRA Engineering plans new building near airport

GESTRA Engineering Inc., a Milwaukee-based engineering consulting firm, plans to build a new 16,200-square-foot office and warehouse building on a vacant 1.45-acre lot at 191 W. Edgerton Ave. in Milwaukee, near Mitchell International Airport.

The firm is seeking two loans, totaling $460,000, from the Milwaukee Economic Development Corp. for the $1.925 million project. The MEDC’s Loan and Finance Committee will review the request on Friday.

GESTRA currently has 36 employees and plans to add another five employees over the next two years, according to information provided to the MEDC.

A representative for the firm could not be reached for comment this morning.

GESTRA is currently located in a 6,540-square-foot building at 1626 W. Fond du Lac Ave., on the city’s near northwest side. The company moved to that location from Oak Creek in 2007, when it had 18 employees.
