The report is compiled by the AAA with the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express.
The Milwaukee-Waukesha gas market is the highest in the state, surpassing the average prices in Eau Claire ($3.867), Green Bay ($3.940), Janesville-Beloit (4.934), La Crosse ($3.784) and Madison ($3.897).
The statewide average price is $3.991.
The prices of gas in the Milwaukee market typically spike in the spring for a variety of reasons, including the federally mandated switch over to a summer blend of fuel designed to reduce emissions.
